The Ambassadors represent the other cancer patients at Children’s
Medical Center and are the heroes behind our campaign to eradicate
pediatric cancer. Throughout the year, Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer has
activities and events specifically for the courageous Ambassadors and
their families.
In 1987, WOKC launched its Ambassador Program.
We serve as a support group for the annually selected Ambassadors –
children undergoing cancer treatment at Children’s Medical Center. Wipe
Out Kids’ Cancer volunteers spend a great deal of time encouraging the
Ambassadors and their families during their cancer treatments and
thereafter.
Ambassadors and their families attend functions held in
their honor throughout the year. The primary purpose of the program is
to allow the children a chance to just be kids and forget about their
cancer treatment. Many Ambassador parents have commented that this
program has saved their child’s life because it gives the child
something for which to look forward.
