Young Heroes Scholarships

WOKC is helping pediatric cancer survivors nationally through the Young Heroes Scholarship which benefits pediatric cancer survivors attending college. The Young Heroes Scholarship program was established by Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer through a generous grant from Texas Rangers’ Infielder, Michael Young and his wife, Cristina Barbosa-Young. The goal of the program is to provide scholarships to pediatric cancer survivors attending college. Since 2006, 61 young cancer survivors from 24 states have been awarded financial assistance, along with a laptop and printer to begin their college career.
The Youngs have been loyal supporters of Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer since 2002. In addition to their support of the Young Heroes Scholarship program, they continue their generosity and commitment to Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer by hosting the scholarship winners and the WOKC Ambassadors and their families each year at a Texas Rangers’ baseball game and by volunteering their time at other Ambassador events.
